Physiotherapy
The goal of physiotherapy is to help patients reach their maximum potential based on their individual capabilities, speed up recovery, and minimize the time needed for functional rehabilitation. This is accomplished through a professional assessment, including examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, and targeted interventions. Techniques used may include rehabilitative procedures, mobilisation, massage, exercises, and various physical agents.
Sports Massage
*Please note Sports Massage is only available for 16 years and older*
Sports massage is a form of deep tissue massage that releases, realigns, and re-balances the muscles and ligaments of the body, complimented with stretches and exercises.
Our specialist massage therapists are trained to manipulate and mobilise tissue to relieve pain and discomfort or aid you in your day-to-day activities. Massage, applied skilfully, is one of the most effective therapies for releasing muscle tension and restoring balance to the musculoskeletal system.
Having regular sessions can help athletes prevent injuries that might otherwise be caused by overuse. A constant build-up of muscle tension from regular activity may lead to stresses on joints, ligaments and tendons, as well as the muscles themselves, which in the long term can lead to unwanted strain when carrying out sporting activities.
Podiatry and Chiropody
Podiatry primarily treats disorders associated with the foot, ankle or lower limb.
Podiatrists examine how the feet function when walking or during sporting activities and assess how this can affect the rest of the body during movement. The lower limbs deal with high-stress loads during movement, so the body can develop injuries and pain if the feet are not working efficiently.
This analysis is referred to as biomechanics. Using biomechanics and gait analysis (the study of walking patterns), a podiatrist can identify factors that could be contributing to or causing your injuries or problems and can help you to recover and minimise future risk of injury.
Hand and Wrist Therapy
Hand physiotherapists treat patients who have conditions affecting the hands and upper limbs. Pain within the hands can occur in any joint due to overuse, an acute injury or a degenerative condition.
Treatments help to alleviate pain through splinting, exercise, manual therapy, and self-management techniques. Some hand pain conditions, such as sprains, are short-term and require acute treatment until the symptoms are resolved, whereas long-term degenerative conditions like arthritis require lifelong self-management techniques
DNS (Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization)
Due to our modern-day circumstances of sitting at a desk all day, pushing ourselves too hard at the gym, or unconsciously having uneven posture, the instinctive patterns we developed as infants to be able to walk become distorted.
Consequently, over time, our stability becomes compromised, which often results in overloading other areas of our bodies (mainly in our joints), leading to injury and pain in those areas.
With the DNS method, Sara can pinpoint these instability points and work on restoring those innate patterns and stability. As a result, your body will be more evenly loaded, and those overloaded areas will find some relief. Therefore, it allows you to continue doing the activities you love, like gardening, tennis, or yoga, for longer.
